In Spain, brought new varieties of white grapes

The third Global Congress of Biology and Biological Technology opened in Singapore. At the congress will be presented a report on the breeding of new varieties of table grapes - the result of research and genetic experiments of scientists from the Murcia Agricultural Institute in Spain.

To obtain a new variety of scientists used the latest technology and biotechnological tools. The advantage of such grapes in the absence of stones inside, adaptation to regional climatic conditions, the economic benefits for the producer. In recent years, the consumption of grapes, both white and red, has doubled worldwide.

  • Scientists of the Agrarian Institute of Spain brought out 17 new varieties. Spanish grapes are characterized by a crispy structure, increased yield and resistance to climate change. In the seven years of cultivation of improved varieties in the country, over 900 hectares of land were allocated for grapes.

    It should also be noted that an important characteristic of new varieties is the resistance to flour dew, which annually destroys tons of the Spanish crop and the world crop of grapes in general. With the help of the development technologies used, we managed to increase the tolerance of this disease by plants. In addition, new varieties require less processing for protection, which has a positive effect on the quality of the grapes.
