Italian wheat varieties will be grown in Chelyabinsk

This is reported by Agroliga Rossii, which suggested that South Ural farmers should test Italian wheat varieties for durability, thereby increasing the quality of hard grain.

At the seminar, which was held in the Bredinsky district of the region, the vice-president of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Russia, Vittorio Torrembini, suggested testing the variety of Italian Rustikano in the Southern Urals. Two farms in the region — Yaik LLC, Kizilsky District, and Sovkhoz Bredinsky LLC — have already tested the planting of such wheat last year.

The farmers of Chelyabinsk have taken this idea to attention, having decided to test it this year. It should be noted that the Chelyabinsk region occupies a leading position in the production of pasta in the country. In terms of production, only Orenburg surpasses the Chelyabinsk region in terms of production.

The varieties of durum wheat of the Russian breeding, although adapted to local climatic conditions and tolerate moisture deficiency well, still lag behind foreign ones in terms of quality. Recall that over the past year, the farmers of the Chelyabn region managed to collect the collection of grain crops for Russia. Only in one Kurgan oblast, about 1 million 145 thousand tons of grain was harvested.
