Yucca: plant description
Yucca is a perennial, evergreen flower from the Agave family, most mistaken for a palm tree. It has a short stem, and in some species the leaves begin to grow almost above the ground. The flowers reach a length of about two meters, and the flowers look like bells.
As a rule, the fruit is a dry seed box, but at home it is impossible to achieve this, since most of the insects that pollinate this species live in America.

How to trim yucca
Pruning a yucca palm tree, or rather, pruning its top, is necessary for the formation of the trunk, the rejuvenation and removal of rotten or frostbite parts. Cut it should be only after a period of rest, and before the procedure should be well watered. The trunk of a yucca after pruning will stop growing, only new shoots will grow. 
Terms of trimming yucca
The formation of the plant is carried out when the rest period ends, and intensive growth has not yet begun - this is the end of February and the beginning of March. If the tops are removed during the active growing season, in April, the flower will die.
Important! A couple of days before the procedure, the plant is watered abundantly to reduce stress.
Rules pruning yucca at home
For the trimming itself, you will need a sterile, sharp knife or pruner. Palm should be cut at a distance of more than 50 cm from the ground. If it has a trunk thickness of less than 5 cm, it cannot be cut, otherwise the trunk will remain thin.
You need to cut off completely, if you do not do this and break the top, then the plant may die. After the trimmer, the flower will begin to lose much moisture, in order to avoid this, the place to cut must be poured with melted wax.

After pruning, the yucca sometimes fades, this happens if rot has already appeared in the trunk. In order not to lose the flower completely, it should be cut in a place where the trunk is still solid.

The cut on the palm should be light, in this case there is a chance that new shoots will come from the remaining sleeping buds. After the procedure, the cut must be treated with crushed coal.
