Almost 40% of black caviar illegally sold on the Ukrainian market

This is evidenced by an examination of the market of sturgeon and black caviar, carried out in Ukraine by the WWF Union and the Leibniz Institute of Zoological Research, in Germany.

Since the sturgeon family in the world is considered the most vulnerable, because 85% of fish species are endangered, fish swimming in open waters is prohibited. In Ukraine, the catch of this species of fish is practically not controlled, and poaching and the destruction of spawning grounds for the purpose of profit is flourishing.

Recall that since 2009, the catch and production of free-swimming sturgeon and its caviar is considered illegal.
