If you decide to build a fountain on the site with your own hands, then, first of all, choose a suitable place for this. In the case of a pond or pond at the dacha, the choice of location is obvious. If you start from scratch, then the place should be chosen, carefully weighing all the pros and cons. Hand-made garden fountains perform various functions: they moisten the air in the garden, which is useful for trees, create cool conditions, can be used for irrigation, etc.
For this reason, you need to choose a place so that the fountain not only brings aesthetic pleasure, but also is useful. A suitable place for arrangement will be an open area between trees, shrubs or a hedge.

Preparation of materials for construction
When the place for the fountain and its type has been selected, a project has been developed, it is necessary to determine which materials will be needed for construction. Assume that the project is designed for a circulating jet static fountain with a single discharge of water, i.e. the "Geyser" type.
At home, for the construction of the fountain with their own hands will need cement, sand, gravel, durable polyethylene film and building facade mesh the size of the building’s diameter (both the film and the mesh must be the same size). In addition, you need a plastic container with a volume of about 50-70 liters, depending on the size of the structure.
If you plan to arrange all the stones, then prepare them immediately. This may be a wild stone of the desired size, cobblestone, granite, large pebbles, etc. To ensure proper operation, you will need a fountain pump.
Pump selection criteria
Depending on the type of fountain you need to choose a pump. For the waterfall, we would choose a surface pump, and since we have a traditional fountain, we choose a submersible one.
As a rule, submersible pumps perfectly perform their function. They are compact, work quietly, they are easy to install and, which is also important, are affordable. Submersible pumps come in different capacities. It is calculated in the amount of pumped water for 1 hour (l / h). 
The height of the jet will depend on the pump power. The maximum height is calculated by the diameter of the foot you made. The pump in this case does not need to be selected by the principle "the more powerful the better." We need for the arrangement such that the jet was high enough and that the spray does not fly out of the "foot". For giving height of a stream will approach from 80 cm to 1 m.

The principle of installation of the pumping system
The pumping system is installed 10 cm above the bottom on a stand (brick laid or mounting stand). A hose or pipe with water supply is supplied to it. Usually the sprinkler comes complete with a pump, but if it is not there, you can make it yourself.
To do this, you can take the usual pipe of stainless steel. The diameter will depend on the height of the jet and the diameter of the spray of water. For a small fountain of 0.8-1.0 m, a diameter of 2-2.5 inches will suffice. The length will depend on how deeply the pump is submerged. Above the water enough to leave 10-15 cm. 
To shape the jet, you can flatten the pipe, roll it up, leaving a hole, drill a few holes, or cut the thread and fasten the desired nozzle. Connect to the pump directly or via an adapter (if necessary).
Installation of the fountain. Step-by-step instruction

- Prepare a pit. Once you have decided on the project and chose a place, you need to dig a hole of the desired diameter and shape for 1-2 bayonet spade. To level a bottom, to fall asleep rubble and to stamp.
- Make formwork. It is made in the form of a pit with an external and internal border. That is, the inner formwork should be of a smaller diameter, and the outer one should be larger. The shape can be different: round, square, hexagonal or octahedral. Between the sides of the formwork with a total diameter of the fountain 1.5-1.7 m should be 60-70 cm.
- Construct a harness from reinforcement. This must be done between the inner and outer borders. To do this, it is necessary to cut the steel bar into pieces of the required size, fasten them together with a wire and fasten them to the rods driven into the ground. The rod should leave the ground at a distance of 20-25 cm above ground level (not pits).
- Make a concrete solution. For the solution you need 1 bucket of cement, 2 buckets of sand, 2 buckets of rubble, water. To make a homogeneous mass, that is, concrete, will help the concrete mixer.
- Pour concrete form external. The form is poured to the desired height, it is about 30-35 cm above ground level. The mixture is well leveled. A slope forms inside.
- Prepare the inside. To do this, remove the external and internal formwork. Below the inner edge level, install a plastic container with a volume of about 50-70 liters. The voids around it should be filled with sand, from above - with rubble almost to the top.
- Make waterproofing. To do this, lay a film on top of the entire structure, cutting a slot in the center. Well straighten it.
- Install the pump. As already mentioned, the pump is installed on a small stand, and not on the bottom of a plastic container. Electricity is supplied to it. Immediately attached itself sprinkler, which comes in a set or made independently (as mentioned above). From above, the pump is covered with a construction mesh according to the diameter of the internal part of the structure. It makes a small slot.
- Fill the tank. It is filled to the brim with water to ensure proper operation of the pump.
- Decorate the fountain. To do this, you need to decorate the structure on the sides and on top.
Additional equipment and accessories
For the fountain on the site, you can provide different nozzles and change them at will. You can also add lights and music. For the purpose of electrical safety, the backlight must be selected reliable.
Care Tips
Maintenance of the design is simple. In summer, you need to monitor the operation of the pump. If the sound has changed, then the water is supplied poorly, so you need to remove the pump from the tank, clean the filters and the tank itself from sludge, dirt.
Periodically check the water level in the tank. If the level has fallen - add water. For the winter, you need to pull out the pump, clean its filters. Empty the container from water, clean and wash it. In addition, the entire structure is better covered with a film that protects against dust and precipitation.
