According to updated statistics, in January-September 2016-2017, Ukraine exported 140 thousand tons of sunflower seeds, which was a record figure for the reporting period in the last 6 seasons. At the same time, Ukraine supplied about 80% of volumes to 28 EU countries, in particular, to the Netherlands, France and Spain.
Taking into account the growing demand for sunflower oil from the European Union, analysts of APK-Inform raised the forecast for the total export volumes of sunflower seeds from Ukraine in the current season by 40 thousand tons - to 290 thousand tons.
Despite the growth in oilseed deliveries to foreign markets, APK-Inform estimated the carry-over stocks of sunflower as of February 1 at 7.2 million tons (12% more compared to the same date last year), which is enough to realize the domestic forecast. processing in the years 2016-2017 (13.6 million tons).
